Regulation and Compliance
The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act (DMCCA) received Royal Assent in May 2024. It gives the Competition and Markets Authority new powers to designate certain technology companies as having strategic market status and to impose conduct requirements and pro-competition interventions on them. It also updates consumer protection enforcement, including changes to subscription contract rules and fake review regulation. The CMA publishes guidance on the Act’s provisions at gov.uk/cma.
